What is a waitlist and how do you join one?

In Ontario, childcare spaces are in very high demand. Most licensed centres use a waitlist system to help families secure care when spaces open up. Joining the waitlist is your first step toward enrollment. It lets us know your interest, your preferred location, and the type of program your child will need when the time comes.

Being on the waitlist does not guarantee a space, but it does ensure your family is considered in order of when your request was received. Our system is first come, first served, with placement offers made as spaces become available in each age group.

How our waitlist works

When you join the waitlist, you’ll be asked to share a few details:

  • Your child’s name and date of birth

  • The program you’re interested in (for example, Toddler or Preschool)

  • The location or locations you’d like to be considered for

  • The approximate date you would need care

Once your form is submitted, you’ll receive confirmation that you’ve been added. From there, our Admissions Team keeps track of all families by program and age group, reaching out directly when a space that matches your needs becomes available.

Choosing a location

Each of our centres follows the same caring approach and warm, play-based environment. The best way to choose a location is to look at what fits your family’s schedule and daily routine.

When deciding which centre to select, consider:

  • Proximity: Is it close to home, work, or your child’s future school?

  • Hours of operation: Each centre’s hours vary slightly to serve their communities.

  • Programs offered: Different centres may offer certain age groups or school-age programs.

  • Fees: Each centre operates under its own fee structure, and you can review these details through the links below.

Understanding childcare fees in Ontario

Childcare fees in Ontario can vary depending on the funding model your centre follows. Here’s a brief overview to help you understand the differences:

  • CWELCC (Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Program): A government initiative that reduces daily fees for children under six. Centres enrolled in this program offer care at a lower, standardized rate.

  • Full-fee programs: Centres not part of CWELCC set their own daily rates. Fees can vary based on location, program, and operating costs. While these fees are higher than CWELCC rates, they remain competitive with other non-subsidized childcare centres in Toronto.

  • Subsidized care: Eligible families can apply for fee assistance through the City of Toronto’s childcare subsidy program.
